One of my favorite puzzles I have is my pentomino set. A pentomino is a shape built up from five squares joined together along their edges. There are exactly twelve distinct pentominoes and together they make for some interesting brain teasers. I have a wooden set, where the main goal is to fit the pieces back in the rectangular box, but countless other shapes can be made.
I cannot say that creating ambigrams is quite like solving such puzzles, but it does have a similar appeal to me. Designing an ambigram is after all a form of puzzle solving as well. Here's one to the pentominoes. The background tessellation shows a solution for fitting them within a 6×10 rectangle.
